Abstract
In order to identify and classify the nursing intervention coped with the nursing needs in the special situation of child-birth, this research was done on the subjects of 140 pregnant women admitted to Kang-nam St. Mary¡¯s Hospital, Catholic medical Center, from September 12, 1983 to October 15, 1983. The subjects¡¯ nursing needs and interventions were judged by the researcher by using the assessment tool for the nursing problem, and by treating the types of delivery and parity which were considered to affect the nursing needs as attribute variable, its relationship with the frequencies of nursing needs were identified. General statistics such as mean, variance, cumulative frequencies and so on were referenced and Two-Way ANOVA test was used for this research. The findings from this research were as follows: 1. It was identified that the type of delivery and parity had a close relationship with frequencies of nursing needs of pregnant women. 2. It was identified that the major nursing interventions supplied in maternal nursing field were mainly physical nursing and explanation, health education, emotional support, consultation and medical nursing. 3. In the frequencies of nursing needs in physical, emotional and social aspects, the more nursing needs were requested in the group of normal delivery than in the group of cesarean section. 4. In the frequencies of nursing intervention by types of delivery, the group of normal delivery requested more medical nursing, physical nursing and explanation, health education and consultation. By parity, the more nursing intervention were requested in the primiparous group in health education aspects and in multiparous group in consultation aspects.
